Saint-Trojan-les-Bain (1,119 inhabitants in 2021; 1,763 ha) is a commune in the department of Charente-Maritime, in the south of the island Oléron.
From the beginning of the 20th century, the city was a seaside resort renowned for the quality of its air, as evidenced by the villas of the 1920s and 1930s along the boulevard de la plage, the late 19th century installation of the sanatorium, which today has become the Helio-Marin Center.
In 1917, a seaplane base for the American army was built on the territory of the commune, and would later become a preventorium and then the Lannelongue departmental centre. However, the seaplane launch ramps are still visible.
On April 30, 1945, Gatseau beach saw the landing of Allied troops who came to liberate the island, which housed a German air base on the Saint-Pierre airfield. A sandstone terminal recalls this event near Gatseau station.
In 1949, part of the commune split to form the commune Le Grand-Village-Plage.
In February 1959, the first mimosa festival took place, a very popular local event ever since.

The flag hoisted on the city hall is horizontally divided B/Y/V (photo).
The coat of arms is blazoned: Party per fess 1. lozengy Azure and Or debruised by a pale Vert, 2. Azure an escallop reversed flanked by two pine cones, all Or.
The logo of the commune has the same colours, green, yellow, blue.
